Board Certified in Orthopedics

Many of our physical therapists opt to receive advanced certification in orthopedics. The orthopedic specialist certification (OCS) program was established by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties. Board certification is awarded for demonstrating knowledge and clinical proficiency in the evaluation, treatment and rehabilitation of orthopedic injuries and conditions.

Individuals with the OCS designation must recertify this status every 10 years, have 2,000 hours of direct patient care as a licensed physical therapist. They must also successfully complete an American Physical Therapy Association-accredited post-professional clinical residency and have a thorough knowledge in anatomy and physiology of the musculoskeletal system.
