KORT is Kentucky's premier provider of outpatient physical and occupational therapy specializing in orthopedics, sports and industrial medicine. Since 1987, KORT has provided clinical and customer service excellence to patients in our centers, at employer sites and with high school, college and professional sports teams.

We are proud to be a Select Sports Center of Excellence, which is an endorsement of our expertise in providing the highest quality of care in sports physical therapy. We have a proven commitment to excellence in injury prevention, rehabilitation/return to sports and performance enhancement. In addition to treating a variety of general outpatient orthopedic diagnoses, we also offer electromyography (EMG), nerve conduction studies (NCS) and musculoskeletal ultrasound to aid in the diagnosis and rehabilitation of our patients.

Our Team

Elliot Mattingly, P.T., DPT, OCS, Center Director

Elliot graduated with a doctorate of physical therapy in 2011 from Bellarmine University. He returned to his hometown of Bardstown to start working with KORT in February 2012. Elliot is a 2014 graduate of the Select Medical Orthopedic Residency Program and a member of it's faculty. In 2015 he became a board certified orthopedic specialist. Elliot has a passion for working with many different populations to help people achieve the highest quality of life. Elliot is an avid runner/triathlete and started the KORT Running Team, based out of Bardstown. He also enjoys traveling, hiking and spending time with his wife and dogs.

Thomas Mudd, P.T., DPT, OCS, Assistant Center Director

Thomas earned a doctorate degree in physical therapy from Bellarmine University in May 2018. Shortly after graduating, he joined the KORT Bardstown team. Thomas has a particular interest in orthopedic injuries and plans to receive certification in dry needling and earning board-certified specialty in orthopedics. Thomas enjoys fishing, spending time with friends and family and watching sports, particularly Kentucky basketball and football.

Heather Clark, P.T., DPT

Heather earned a doctorate of physical therapy in 2015 and bachelor's degree in kinesiology in 2011 from the University of Kentucky. Heather is an active member of the American physical therapy association with section memberships in both orthopedics and neurology, as well as a member of the Kentucky physical therapy association. Her clinical interests include general orthopedics, hands-on therapy and neurology rehabilitation. Heather enjoys being active, playing sports, horse-riding, listening to music, crafting and cheering on the CATS!

Jennifer Hayden, P.T., DPT, OCS, ATC

Jennifer is a native of Bardstown. She received her undergraduate degree in exercise science/sports medicine from Campbellsville University in 1999 and master's degree in physical therapy from the University of Kentucky in 2003. While working for KORT, Jennifer completed a doctorate of physical therapy from Regis University in 2008. Jennifer became an orthopedic certified specialist in 2011 and enjoys treating a variety of orthopedic conditions, especially pediatric and sports-related injuries. She loves going to the movies, reading, playing softball and watching UK sports.

Amy Walls, OTR/L

Amy is a native of Bardstown. She completed earned an occupational therapy degree from Eastern Kentucky University in 1995. She joined the KORT team in 1996. Amy enjoys working with a variety of patients with a special interest in working with the geriatric population. She has an extensive background in working in inpatient rehab with orthopedic patients. Amy is a member of National Board of Certification in Occupational Therapy. She lives locally with her husband G.B. and spends her free time attending the sporting events of her four daughters.

Justin Gallagher, OTD, OTR/L

Justin is originally from Caneyville, KY. He earned a bachelor's degree in health sciences and master's degree in occupational therapy at Spalding University in 2018. He received a post-professional doctorate in occupational therapy, which focused on upper extremity rehabilitation at Spalding in December 2022. Justin is certified in deep physical agent modalities, wound care and upper extremity rehabilitation. He has a passion for outpatient upper extremity orthopedic conditions and orthotic fabrication. Justin is in pursuit of becoming a certified hand therapist. He enjoys spending time with family and dog, running for fun, being outdoors and playing music with friends.

Verneasa Hendricks, PTA, WCC

Verneasa is a 1991 graduate of Somerset Community College with an associate degree in applied science. Verneasa has been an employee at KORT Bardstown Rehab Services since 1997. She is certified in instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization and a certified wound care provider by the National Alliance of Wound Care. Verneasa enjoys seeing all patient types, but is passionate working with amputee patients.

Michael Harris, PTA, CES

Michael has been a member of the KORT team for numerous years. He is a graduate of 1991 of Somerset Community College whereas he received an associate degree in physical therapy. He is also a graduate of from Cal U of Pennsylvania with a bachelor's degree in fitness and wellness, and is certified through National Academy of Sports Medicine in corrective exercise. His expertise include orthopedic injury, neurologic, geriatric and sports injury.
