Success Stories

Shiva Rallapalli

Shiva Rallapalli, an avid mountaineer, got caught in a high-wind, whiteout storm while climbing Denali. The conditions caused Shiva to be thrown from a cliff down a glacier drop off. Shiva sustained a shoulder dislocation and fracture injury. He made a sling and the three-day mountain decent began. Shiva's injury required surgery. And, after the repair, he began physical therapy. Physical Therapist Grace Galyon understood the type of patient she was working with as well as his goals to get back to climbing. Grace tailored a program that addressed all Shiva's post-operative needs. Her personable approach helped him move through the process. "I enjoy mountaineering and staying physically fit by working out. I was unable to enjoy any of these activities during my rehabilitation," he said. "However, I experienced a turning point about three months in and am now well on my way to getting back to mountaineering this summer."
