KORT Richmond is conveniently located at 5006 Atwood Drive, Suite 2 (on the Robert R. Martin By-Pass across from Toyota South). We treat orthopedic physical therapy with a strong emphasis on hands-on physical therapy, functional activity restoration, and individualized care. Our proven techniques benefit a wide range of individuals suffering from injuries or pain associated with work, auto accident, back and neck, or peripheral joint problems (involving the shoulder, elbow, hand, hip, knee, foot and ankle), dizziness and sports injuries.

Our Team

Amy Thoroughman, PT, MSPT, Clinic Director

Amy graduated from University of Kentucky in 2007. She attended Morehead State University for undergraduate training in Biology and Exercise Physiology before transferring to UK to complete undergraduate degree and graduate degree from UK. Her clinical interests include pelvic health physical therapy, vestibular rehab, orthopedics and manual therapy. After graduation, she worked in Tennessee and Ohio before returning to Kentucky in 2015. In her free time, Amy enjoys spending time with her husband Kevin and two daughters Autumn and Erin. She also has a fur baby, yellow mini labradoodle Olive.

Jacob Miles, PT, DPT, Cert. DN, Cert SMT, FAAOMPT, Dip. Of Osteopractic

Jacob is a native of Oldham County. He earned his Bachelor of Kinesiology and Health Sciences from the University of Kentucky. He received his Doctorate of Physical Therapy from UK in 2015. Jacob is certified in dry needling and spinal manipulative therapy. He also completed the diploma of osteopractic, and is a fellow of the American Academy of Manual Physical Therapy. His clinical interests include manual therapy, sports and orthopedic conditions, and pain science. Jacob is an avid UK fan, and enjoys traveling, trying new foods, and brewing beer at home.

Nick George, P.T., DPT, OCS, Center Co-Director

Nick earned a doctorate of physical therapy and bachelor's degree in exercise science from the University of Kentucky. His clinical interests include sports and orthopedic rehabilitation, hands-on therapy and treatment of neck/back pain. Originally from Lexington, he is an avid UK fan and enjoys watching games, fishing and playing golf.

Derek Stewart, PT, DPT

Derek earned his Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the University of Kentucky in 2019, as well as his Bachelor of Science in Human Health Sciences in 2016. He also graduated from the Physical Therapist Assistant program at Somerset Community College in 2012, and has worked in various healthcare settings since then. His clinical interests include manual therapy, orthopedic conditions, injury prevention, and pain neuroscience. In his spare time, Derek enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter, exercising, traveling, and rooting for the Kentucky Wildcat basketball and football teams.

Jon Huff, PTA, CSCS

Jon is a graduate from the Somerset Community College PTA Program. Prior to becoming a PTA, he earned his Master of Science in Exercise and Wellness from Eastern Kentucky University, where he assisted the Strength and Conditioning department with all sports. His clinical interests are orthopedic and sports rehab, manual therapy and geriatrics. In his free time, Jon enjoys working out and spending time with his wife.
